Sleep is a constantly changing field in my house. There are nights when everything goes smoothly and it is amazing and then there are nights when it is so hard for the kids to settle down and fall asleep. On those nights getting them to bed takes forever! Recently, my 5 year old & 2 year old have begun sharing a room. Partly because, we literally have no more rooms! Also because I think it is sweet. I shared a room with my sister growing up and, because of that, we have a special bond built over whispers and late night secrets.
But many nights, my 2 year old is so darn excited to be sharing a room with her brother that she just wants to chat and chat rather than go to sleep. It can be quite frustrating for her brother who just wants to sleep. And it begins a pretty long dramatic process for everyone. So it was time to pull out my tool box and get to work on something that could help them both get to sleep more easily.
There are many great herbs that can help with sleep! If your kids love tea, Check out the Sleep Tight Tea Blend available at the apothecary. Another thing that I adore for getting kids to sleep is doing rubs with essential oils! Nighttime massage is such a peaceful way to help your child relax the body and mind and really make that transition more easily to sleepiness. This gentle massage oil has Lavender & Roman Chamomile Essential oils, both safe for kiddos, and incredibly relaxing for the whole body. Try it for yourself too!
